4 hurt in attack on Lebanese minister's convoy

BEIRUT (AP) ? The state-run Lebanese news agency says armed protesters have attacked the convoy of a Cabinet minister in north Lebanon, wounding four people.

The National News Agency says protesters demanding the release of Islamist prisoners in the city of Tripoli threw a grenade at the convoy of Sports and Youth Minister Faisal Karameh that set fire to one of the vehicles. The minister was not hurt.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

It was not immediately clear whether the attack was meant to target Karameh, a pro-Syrian cabinet minister.

The attack is likely to fuel tensions in Tripoli, which has seen repeated spillover clashes between supporters and opponents of President Bashar Assad's regime during Syria's civil war.
