Asylum Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, will be the home for the first new power plant in Pennsylvania to run at least partially on Marcellus Shale natural gas.? According to the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Mike Krancer, the plant "will benefit the environment and the economy by using a cleaner fuel and creating hundreds of jobs."
Construction of the plant is expected to create 500 jobs at its peak, which is great news for the industry.? Construction is expected to take 2 1/2 - 3 years.?
Additionally, an application concerning the construction of a similar plant in Clinton Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, is currently pending with the DEP.? More construction jobs are on the horizon.? We will keep you updated.
