Nissan NV 200 Taxi of Tomorrow
Selected by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) to serve as the exclusive taxi of New York City beginning in late 2013, the Nissan NV200 has several features which distinguish it from existing models. Powered by a fuel-efficient 2.0L four-cylinder engine, it also has a transparent roof and sliding doors which should lower the risk of bikers running into opening doors.
Terrafugia Inc.?s Transition
We don?t have to explain much about why we chose this. Founders and aviation engineers Carl and Anna Dietrich made a vehicle where you can choose to drive OR fly!
Fisker Atlantic
Sleek, sexy and energy efficient ?now that?s what we?re talking about. The mid-sized plugin electric hybrid sedan features an all-electric range of 50 miles in addition to a highly efficient BMW engine that provides an extra 250 miles for a total extended range of 300 miles. Better yet, it?s priced at $45,000 after tax rebates, about half that of its predecessor the Karma.
Infiniti LE
Beyond being able to travel 100 miles on a single charge, the Infiniti LE really stood out for one big reason: it will be the first car in the world that doesn?t require a plug to recharge. How so? A wireless home charging system!
Lincoln MKZ
Lincoln finally decided to give its brand a little facelift and out came a hybrid vehicle! The MKZ Hybrid will be powered by a next-generation 2.0L four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that gets 41mpg in the city and 36mpg on the highway. Two other models, though not hybrids, show significant improvements over older models in terms of fuel-efficiency.
Mitsubishi i-MiEV Sport Air
The i-MiEV Sport Air concept car is 100% electric and builds on its cousin, the iMiEV. It is expected to receive an even higher MPGe score than the iMiEV and will cost about $3.60 to ?fill up? for every 100 miles traveled. Another added bonus: consumers can hope that it will be as affordable as the iMiEV which retails at $21,625 after federal government rebates.
DeLorean
Who can?t resist a back-to-the-future EV? The DeLorean EV has a range of 100 miles and can go from about 0 to 60mph in under six seconds. As EV technology continues to improve, the company hopes that the car body will outlast many batteries, making it the ultimate example of re-purposing old parts while saving limited resources.
